Jeffersonville Monumental Memories Photo Mural Project
Downtown Jeffersonville is home to 10 large photo murals! Jeffersonville Main Street, in partnership with the Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Association, the Jeffersonville Public Arts Commission, Indiana Main Street, and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, present a wonderfully creative project for HipStoric Downtown Jeffersonville: large photo murals on downtown buildings!
The project is called Monumental Memories and it involves utilizing historic photos of downtown Jeffersonville enlarged as big as 10’x12′ and installed on 10 different downtown buildings.
This project blends the attributes of public art, placemaking, and history and creates another wonderful reason to visit downtown Jeffersonville, said Jay Ellis, Executive Director of Jeffersonville Main Street. We are continuing to work towards the revitalization of our downtown and we feel these murals imbue the district with a quality that will be both hip and historic — what we call ‘HipStoric’.
This project is made possible by a grant from Indiana Main Street and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. Jeffersonville Main Street is a local 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization working to revitalize downtown Jeffersonville, and is an accredited member of the Indiana Main Street program.
